Upcycling a book into a gift

Maggie has a fabulous idea of turning those hardbound books you don't read anymore into great gifts to brighten up your holidays!
Here's what she did:

I've created this fun gift set to give to my friends and family for Christmas, it is a fully functioning book light :) I raided my DH garage for supplies, I use retardant flame, DH drill for the holes for the Candle. I created my own paper and printed for this set, since I'm making 20.
I found the books at Goodwill $.50 cents each :) kewl eh?

Supplies used:

Readers digest old books, Shimmerz blings, Delta Metallic paint, Offray ribons, Stampenduous gems, charm, tea light, flame retardant, brushes, Uhu Glue, Mod Podge.

How to:

1. Seal the edges of the book with Mod Podge, let dry, then trace the size of the tea light and drill. Seal the hole with Flame retardant.

2. Trace the book onto the paper and adhere with Uhu Glue, then coat the entire book edges and spine with paint let dry.

3. Coat with Shimmerz Angel's breath let dry, add a second coat let dry.

4. Wrap ribbon around book and tie into a knot, add charm, add gems to the cover of the book, add the tea lights.
Voila in 4 easy steps you are done!

Now don't throw away those old books turn them into gems!
Thanks Maggie for such a great idea!
